Photo Rejuvenation/IPL

The Procedure

Our Laser technology is US made and FDA approved. It is to improve the appearance of aged skin, removes age spots, most benign brown pigments, and redness caused by broken capillaries for face, hands and body. This is a non-invasive and non-ablative treatment. Consultation is required to determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment.

The regular price for each session is $300. Contact our office for specials.

It treats a wide variety of skin conditions:
  • Photo Rejuvenation
  • Age spots
  • Fine wrinkles and large pores
  • Skin texture
  • Redness
  • Broken capillaries

Photo Rejuvenation/IPL Benefits

It is for treating rosacea, acne, age spots, fine wrinkles, and other conditions since the treatment offers substantial results with little to no downtime. Patients typically return to work the same day. Other benefits include:

Photo Rejuvenation/IPL FAQ

The LightPod family of lasers represents a technology breakthrough in the field of laser medicine. The result is a new generation of aesthetic lasers, built on the proven safety and versatility of gold-standard wavelengths 1064nm and 2940nm. Traditional “big-box” Nd:YAG and Er:YAG lasers, which had been introduced during the 1990’s, quickly became the gold-standard dermatology laser modalities. These lasers have not changed since that time; they still possess all the clinical and design inefficiencies of that era. Aerolase developed its revolutionary FDA approved LightPod lasers to incorporate the best features of traditional big box lasers, while adding new innovative enhancements that result in a combination of Efficacy, Safety and Broader Range of Therapeutic Uses. Aerolase has designed its LightPod lasers to deliver the highest power with uniquely optimized laser pulse parameters based on clinical research.

A Laser is a high-energy beam of light that can transfer its energy into specific areas of the skin’s tissue to treat skin problems. These beams of light are produced in one wavelength or color at a time, and can vary in terms of their strength and the type of tissue that they can target.

Non – Ablative Lasers – They have been a more recent introduction in types of aesthetic equipment for skin improvement. These lasers have lower energy levels than ablative lasers (which resurface or remove the outer layer of skin completely) and try to cause damage within the dermal layer of the skin without removal of the outer epidermal layers. That is to say that the laser treats the layers of skin under the surface without damaging the surface too much. This lessens the recovery period after the treatment and reduces the number of complications that can occur. It is thought that the laser’s heat in the dermal layers causes collagen to be produced which helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. However, the results from this type of procedure are less obvious than those which can be achieved with ablative laser skin resurfacing during which the surface of the skin is removed.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) – Intense Pulsed Light systems, although technically not lasers, use flashes of light that work in a similar way to non – ablative lasers by causing heat damage to dermal tissues without disruption or removal of the outer epidermal layers of the skin.

Light, Heat Energy (LHE) – This is another treatment which you may hear mentioned. This also works by carefully controlled bursts of low-level light and heat that can be used for photo rejuvenation.

Light Emitting Diode (LED) – Emits red light that has been shown to stimulate production of collagen in the skin.

The laser treatments are most commonly used for:

  • Lightening and removing “sun spots”, “age spots”, and brown blotches on the face, neck, chest, hands and other areas of the body
  • Lightening and reducing redness, rosacea, dilated blood vessels and “broken” blood vessels on the face, neck and chest
  • Helping to control flushing
  • It also has a lesser effect of improving skin texture through collagen stimulation and improves pore size minimally by temporarily reducing oiliness

The laser/IPL device emits a range of lightwaves that are then tuned and targeted at hemoglobin (the red blood cells in the blood vessels) or melanin (the brown pigment in freckles and age spots). The light beam passes through the skin and is absorbed by either hemoglobin or melanin resulting in damage to the vessel wall or fragmenting of melanin pigment. These tiny vessels and the melanin pigment are then absorbed by the body, rendering them less visible.

There may be mild discomfort during the treatment, but most patients tolerate removal of dilated blood vessels or age spots/freckles and fine lines very easily. The first treatment is usually the “zingiest.” As your skin begins to clear, the treatments usually become even more comfortable. The amount time is taking is based on the size of the area.

Most patients will be able to return to work immediately following the procedure.

Depending on the type of equipment used, some mild stinging or burning may be noticed during the procedure, and the area treated may feel hot for 15 minutes or so after treatment. Most patients will experience skin redness which will fade over the next hour or so and can be covered with light make up.

It is very important that you follow carefully the advice of your practitioner following any type of light treatment to help make the treatment as successful as possible and to reduce the risk of complications afterwards

Laser or intense pulsed light (IPL) systems for skin improvement are performed by trained medical staff.

Rosacea is a very common condition of diffuse redness in the facial skin, but the affected area sometimes also contains small broken capillaries and larger facial vessels. The laser treatment is a unique 1064nm laser that can clear Rosacea and vessels in 1 to 2 quick, gentle treatments without skin contact or cooling. The treatment has the versatility to treat the larger area of diffuse redness first in a quick, easy treatment, and with a simple change of the lens, to target the broken capillaries and larger vessels with higher fluencies.

Angiomas are unsightly red vascular lesions that can occur in most body areas of both women and men. Angiomas are red vascular lesions that are a cosmetic concern for many people. Before the advent of light-based therapy, they were often surgically removed, which tended to result in bleeding and scarring. The laser treatment is a new cosmetic laser modality for removing angiomas; it provides a gentle yet effective treatment because of its combination of high power and gentle pulse duration. The laser energy is delivered at a high fluence in order to superheat and destroy the vasculature that feeds the lesion, thereby destroying it.

Injectables such as botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments today and, sometimes, with these treatments come adverse effects. Due to differences in your skin, some people may react differently to certain procedures and even patients treated by the most skilled physicians may encounter post-injectable bruising. Instead of needing to wait up to a week for the bruising to subside, 650-microsecond technology can clear post-injectable bruising within a day or two after just a single treatment.
